Motivation! We all need it.. We all have something that keeps us moving forward and reaching towards our goals. Some us struggle with our career paths, some of us struggle with our relationships, and some of us struggle with our self-image. But what personal trainer Adonis Hill did for one of his clients will motivate you to be all that you can be.
Before Adonis was a personal trainer he struggled with his own weight at the age of 27, when one of his businesses had failed and he lost a large sum of money. He became severely depressed and stopped coming outside and left his friends and family behind, and that is when he packed on the pounds. Luckily, one of his friends was able to get him to leave the couch potato life behind and he began to take daily walks, that later turned into daily jogs, and by the age of 29 he had lost over 100lbs and started lifting weights in order to gain some muscle. He took a liking to his new healthy lifestyle so much he began bodybuilding and started his own personal training business in New York City.

In 2014, he was approached by A&E show, Fit to Fat To Fit, where trainers are required to gain weight so they can lose weight alongside their clientele. Hill immediately stopped working out daily and ate close to 6,000-7,000 calories a day. He would eat a ridiculously fatty diet from pizza, to hot dogs, to oreos, to McDonald’s on a daily basis. In a little over 3 months Adonis gained 69lbs but was told by doctors his blood pressure was dangerously high and was forced to stop his weight gain there. Adonis and his client, Alyssa, then got to work with an hour of lifting and an hour of cardio at least 5 to 6 times a week… But this time Adonis noticed how difficult it was to trim his excess fat and was forced to change his diet to a a high-fat, high-protein, very low-carb diet in order to burn fat easier. Hill was able to lose 57lbs and his client lyssa was able to lose 58lbs in just four months, both reaching their goals!
Adonis is back to bodybuilding these days and even is taking his fitness journey to a new level. He plans to walk from New York to California in order to promote walking and “increase access to safe and convenient places to walk and wheelchair roll.” The project is called ‘Adonis Moves America’ and he says nothing will stop him from completing his goal. If that doesn’t motivate you to get up and run some laps around your local park, you are the epitome of lazy… Be inspired, and do something to better yourself today rather than tomorrow. It may sound cliche, but you can do anything you put your mind to.
